Boxing has been more than just exercise for Dawson. It has been life changing for him in so many ways. We have seen a significant improvement in Dawson’s anxiety and self esteem issues. His transformation has amazed all of us at home but the best part is that he feels great! The work isn’t easy but it’s rewarding. Jamie is a bright light of positivity and has empowered Dawson to believe in himself.
When we asked Dawson to describe his boxing experience this is what he said “Amazing, cool, fun, phenomenal, life-changing. It’s made me feel better about myself! Mrs. Jamie is funny, inspiring, awesome and cool! It also relieves my stress and makes me feel amazing.”

Southpaw Boxing has been a catalyst in my son’s life, both athletically and personally. I have watched his confidence strengthen, as well as his hand eye coordination and quickness in the net improve. While being recruited for lacrosse, the number one thing D1 coaches asked him about was his boxing experience. They were impressed and believed it would help his skills as a player. I would recommend Jamie to anyone from aspiring athletes or to someone looking to gain confidence in themselves

Just over a year ago, on a whim, I decided to take a boxing class. I had driven past the sign for Southpaw Boxing a million times and figured it would be something good to pass the time. That first class, I couldn't make it through a whole 3 minute round without needing to stop and catch my breath and by the time I got home, I was sure my muscles would never work again. But I had so much fun training with Jamie that I kept going back. A couple months after that first class, I started going twice a week and a couple months after that, I started boxing 4 or 5 days a week and I haven't looked back. As Coach Jamie is fond of saying, "if it was easy, everyone would do it." It certainly hasn't been easy balancing hard workouts, sometimes twice a day, with nursing school, work, everyday life, and a 45-minute commute each way. I have to say though, it has been worth every minute of every class! All together, I have lost over 100lbs and 18in off my waist from my heaviest. I have confidence and self-esteem that I didn't know I was missing. Everyday things, like my walk to and from school and chasing my goddaughters around, are so much easier. And from that first exhausting class, I've gotten into the best shape of my life, where I can do 2 hours of boxing and a half hour of Pilates in one day, without feeling like I'm falling apart. It hasn't been easy, but it's been an amazing journey so far and I'm more than happy to keep it going every day! Whatever you're working on in your own life, keep doing it! Putting the hard work in is how everything gets so much better! Many thanks to Jamie and the rest of the crew at Southpaw for making this so much fun!

Izzy has always been cautious about committing to one sport or activity over the years so by now she’s tried everything-which is is fine bc it’s given her of a lot of different experiences- but now she’s locked into boxing for sure-she REALLY loves it &so we are in-
I think it is very empowering for her bc she leaves your class feeling strong and proud of herself and I really wish it was mandatory for all middle school girls to take your class😄
Paul is an amazing example of what, at Southpaw boxing, we call Crushing it! When Paul comes to train he is all business and goes 100%!
He not only excels on the lacrosse field, but in school as well. Boxing has helped Paul with his cross training. Strength, Stamina and the mental toughness on and off the field.
